For International Exchange Students and German Students; as well as for Partnership leaders from the Departments: The International Office

The International Office is responsible for international exchange students (especially ERASMUS) and for German students planning to stay abroad. The contact person at the International Office is Mrs. Holstein-Alter. The support offered by the International Office includes:

  • Individual consultation of international exchange students and German students
  • Support for international exchange students (especially ERASMUS)
  • Information events about studying abroad and internships abroad with information about the application process and financing
  • Participation in the study abroad fair „Ich bin dann mal weg…“ (I'm off then...), which is always offered in the summer semester
  • Supports the departments and the teachers in the organization of the ERASMUS programs

For international BA and MA students, doctoral students and visiting scholars: The Welcome Center

The Welcome Center is responsible for international BA and MA students, doctoral students and visiting scholars. The contact person in the Welcome Center is Mrs. Ines Tobis. The services offered at the Welcome Center includes:

  • Support for international students that have administrative and organizational issues, to the application procedure for BA and MA programs via uni-assist, to visa and entry, to public authorities and to health insurance
  • General support for international students and doctoral students
  • General support for international visiting scholars
  • General support for delegations from partner universities
  • Support to help integrate international students and graduates into the labor market
  • Support of the departments in the supervision and internationalization of study programs

Support program for all international students and doctoral students

Together, the International Office and Welcome Center organize a care program for all international students and doctoral students. These include:

  • An orientation week before the semester starts (an introductory event)
  • Intercultural events such as
    • International cooking, national evenings and one International party per semester
    • Excursions
  • Buddy Program: Each and every international student receives a student guide as a support in their days before starting to study
  • Free semester German courses
  • Room finding assistance
